Descriere:
Artificial Intelligence is becoming a key enabler for new systems in a variety of domains, including smart health, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, to name a few. It provides the technological enablement for solving pressing issues such as automation of routine tasks, improvement of systems performance and efficiency, and accelerates the digitization of many sectors. At the same time, AI can have negative impact on society when used without sound engineering principles or input from a variety of stakeholders. There are many challenges in engineering responsible smart systems, such as fairness, transparency, safety, privacy and security combined with the demand for ensuring equal access, inspiring participation and engagement, and protecting civic rights and liberties. Meeting these challenges is only possible through advances in fundamental AI and learning technologies, software and system engineering for AI smart systems, assurances for AI intensive systems and through a multidisciplinary effort.

This workshop brings together researchers, practitioners and policy makers from academic, research and government institutions, from Romania and abroad, to present and debate the state of the art and practice in engineering smart systems. The presentations will be on topics including but not limited to:

·       Artificial Intelligence and Big Data
·       Software and system engineering for large scale socio-technical systems
·       Process automation including IT cloud automation and AIOos, autonomic and self-adaptive systems
·       Socio-technical factors for smart systems: human and social factors; trust, ethics, privacy, security, safety; social and environmental implications, sustainability, law and public policies.
·       Applications of Smart Systems, e.g. cyberphyisical systems, internet of things, smart health, smart transportation, etc.

The workshop will also include several panels and round-tables with the goal to develop new research and collaboration programs among the participants.

The workshop participation is gender diverse and multi-disciplinary, including Master, PhD and postdoctoral students, early career, and established researchers from Romania and abroad.
